On September 11, Patriot Day gives all of us time to reflect on the devastating terror attacks that took nearly 3,000 lives. We commemorate those who we lost and give thanks to the brave first responders who put their lives on the line. Take a moment today to consider what we stand for as a nation and how we can work together to make the world a better place for all. God Bless America!

Wear Red, White & Blue on Wednesday in honor of Patriot Day. β€οΈπ€π

Dear Burnham Elementary School Families,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are as eager as we are to begin this journey together. It's always a joy to see our students return, and we're especially thrilled to welcome our new kindergarteners to the Burnham Elementary School family.
Over the summer, we've been hard at work making some important improvements to our school. I'm pleased to share that we completed a full roof replacement, ensuring a safer and more comfortable environment for everyone. Additionally, we've added a Learning Unlimited (LU) system to our gymnasium, which will provide our students with even more opportunities for growth and development.
Our commitment to education and dedication to our students and their families is at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about enhancing student achievement, and we canβt wait to continue "Building Extraordinary Students" together.
Throughout the spring and summer, our Principal, Mrs. Pozdzal, has guided our teachers and instructional aides in implementing new reading programs for our students.
Last week, our dedicated faculty and staff engaged in two Teacher Institute days to receive training on our new reading and English language curriculum. We are excited to roll out the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) Into Reading Curriculum for our K-5 students. This program is deeply rooted in research on key literacy elements and offers tailored support for multilingual learners, including a Spanish-English biliteracy solution. For our 6th-8th graders, we are introducing the Amplify ELA curriculum, which is designed to empower students to tackle complex texts, explore diverse ideas, and find personal relevance in their learning journey.
We are excited to welcome our students and are all looking forward to another fantastic school year. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Warm regards,
Stephen Geraci
Superintendent
Burnham Elementary School

Dear Burnham School Families,
I am excited to announce that we will continue our tradition of Spirit Wear Wednesdays for the 2024-2025 school year! Every Wednesday, students are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing attire purchased from 1st Place Spiritwear.
Please remember that the School Dress Code for Dress Down Days still applies to Spirit Wear Wednesdays. If you would like more details, you can refer to the Student Handbook under section 6-25.
We look forward to seeing our students proudly display their Burnham School spirit each week!
Respectfully,
Jennifer Pozdzal
Burnham Principal
