With immense joy and enthusiasm, I extend a warm welcome to every one of you as we begin the 2025–2026 academic year! I want to share my heartfelt greetings with our returning students, dedicated faculty, supportive parents, and everyone who contributes to the strong sense of community that makes Burnham School such a special place. Your continued commitment and energy help create the vibrant and uplifting environment that defines our school. This will be my 14th year at Burnham Elementary School, and I am happy to say that each year we make our school a better place to learn. 

As we step into this new school year, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging space for all students. Our focus on academic excellence, character development, and overall student well-being remains at the core of everything we do. Beyond academics, we continue to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, preparing our students for school success and meaningful lives beyond the classroom. Together, we will continue to empower our students to grow into compassionate, responsible, and exceptional individuals.

As we navigate the year ahead, let us all embrace kindness and empathy. A simple smile or a few words of encouragement can uplift others and create positivity that touches the entire school community.

In closing, I'd like to express how thankful I am to lead our Burnham School family. I would also like to take a moment to thank my own family for their constant encouragement. My wife, Valerie, continues to be a source of love and strength, inspiring me to make a lasting impact here at Burnham. Watching my children, Roxanne, Gina, Stephen, and my five grandchildren grow and enjoy life reminds me daily why our mission to nurture and educate is so important.

Jennifer Pozdzal- Principal/Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Welcome to Burnham School! I’m Jennifer Pozdzal, and I am truly honored to be the principal of Burnham School. This is my third year in this role, and with 21 years of experience in education, I’m incredibly passionate about creating an environment where every student feels welcomed, safe, and supported. I hold a Master’s degree in Education, a Type 75 license, an LBS1 license, a certificate in Applied Behavioral Neuroscience, a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development. In the Spring of 2026, I will complete my EdS (Educational Specialist), continuing my journey of lifelong learning.

I’ve been happily married to my wonderful husband, Jarek, for 13 years, and together, we are blessed with two amazing daughters. Riley, who is 12 and in 7th grade, is an enthusiastic dancer who pours her heart into her craft. Raelynn, our 10-year-old in 4th grade, has a deep love for swimming and has a true heart of gold. As a mother, I deeply understand the importance of fostering an environment where children feel loved, challenged, and encouraged to pursue their dreams. My experiences as a parent drive my dedication to ensuring that every student at Burnham has the opportunity to succeed and develop into a confident, capable young person.

At Burnham School, we believe that every child deserves a strong foundation for success, and we are committed to providing the tools, resources, and support necessary to help them thrive in an ever-changing world. Our goal is to equip students not only with the academic knowledge they need but also with the critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills that will help them become responsible, engaged citizens. We strive to create a learning environment that nurtures curiosity, fosters creativity, and encourages a lifelong love of learning.

As educators, we are dedicated to building a strong partnership with parents, guardians, and the community. I believe that when we work together, we can help each child achieve their fullest potential. My commitment to Burnham School is to ensure that every child feels seen, heard, and valued. I am passionate about fostering an environment where students feel inspired to take risks, ask questions, and pursue their interests.

I am excited for what the upcoming school year holds and look forward to all the opportunities for growth and learning that lie ahead.
