Mrs. Flynn
Mrs. K. Flynn - Teacher

My name is Mrs. Kelly Flynn, and I am the seventh grade teacher at Burnham School.  Although it's a little hard for me to believe how quickly time has passed, I am just starting my 20th year teaching at Burnham School!

I am a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and received my Master's Degree in 2008 in Reading from Concordia University.  Stop by my classroom sometime, and you can see for yourselves the passion that I have for books!    There are over two thousand books in my classroom.  One of my favorite things about teaching is to see my students get excited about reading and responding to reading materials.  I want to encourage my students to foster a life-long love for reading and learning.

When I am not at Burnham School, I enjoy being with my family.  I am married to Joe Flynn, and we are the proud parents of Sean (sophomore at Lake Central High School) and Ian (8th grader at Kahler Middle School).  I stay active taking care of my family and try to be a supportive parent in all the activities  (like marching band and baseball) in which my sons participate.  My children keep me very busy!

As a family, we like to go camping and hiking, as well as travel to other locations.    Sometimes during our outings we make a special point to dine  at restaurants mentioned on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and Man Versus Food .

As far as what I like to do personally...I like to walk in the morning and get a little exercise.  I like to read early in the morning while sitting in the living room with the sun pouring down over me, while everyone in the house is asleep.  Also, I like to attend sporting events, especially the White Sox games.  As a creative outlet, I like to scrapbook and take pictures.

I am a very fortunate person to have such a wonderful life with my  family and also to be able to teach at Burnham School, my home away from home.
