Mandatory School Closure

I hope that everyone is well and adjusting to this temporary lifestyle as we deal with the spread of the Covid-19 virus. On Friday, March 20, 2020, Governor Pritzker announced that all Illinois schools will now be closed through Tuesday, April 7, 2020. (Chicago Public Schools are closed through Monday, April 20, 2020.) Beginning Tuesday, March 31, 2020, it is unclear whether "Act of God" days will be extended or when Illinois will move to a required distance learning model.

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced that students impacted by school closures due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic can bypass standardized testing for the 2019-2020 school year. The Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) and the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) will be bypassed at Burnham Elementary School this year.
